Noosa Wine & Food Festival 16-19 May
This year’s exciting festival has something to suit everybody with new elements that will take the festival-goer beyond the beach and out into the hinterland. The events listed below are just a sample to illustrate the diversity of this fantastic festival as some events are already sold out, now is the time to start booking.
For those of you that love sophistication, a new signature event is the Noir Noosa black tie Gala dinner that harks backs to the romantic Napoleonic age with a French inspired menu. This event celebrates Moët & Chandon Impérial's 150th Anniversary and will be held outdoors under the stars and fairy lights of Hastings Street in a theatrical atmosphere. Another outdoor event but in a rural setting is the Under The Stars dinner in the beautiful hills of the Noosa countryside. Included is a Night Sky presentation by the Wappa Falls Observatory, displays and an opportunity to gaze at the stars through high powered telescope. The four-course meal is locally sourced produce from Mary Valley, Gympie and Noosa.
For a day trip to the countryside to sample the local produce book The Taste of the Hinterland Farm Trail. This event starts with boarding the bus at Noosa Heads, visits 3 Sunshine Coast farms for refreshments and includes morning tea and a 2 course lunch with matched wine.
For the Yoga enthusiasts there are 2 events, an early morning session Yoga on the farm that includes breakfast and for those that like to sleep in there is a Sunset Yoga session with wine and cheese after.
A family friendly event where you can sample local food, wine, craft beer and cider buy a day pass to the Festival Village. You will have the opportunity to talk to local producers at the Producers Market, there will be live music to enjoy, get some inspiration watching the cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs Matt Wilkinson, Paul Carmichael, the My Kitchen Rules judge Colin Fassnidge and Alla Wolf-Tasker from the Lake House at Daylesford. This event is held over the two days of the festival, and you are very likely to bump into a celebrity chef as there are quite a few visiting this year.
For the party people try the Club Crusoe night at Rococo Bistro Noosa which is described as Kakadu meets Cafe del Mar meets isles of the South Pacific beach party to the shores of Laguna Bay. Night includes 4 hours of DJs, live music, dancing, sublime food, plentiful drink and of course, coconuts!
For the serious foodies then the Underground Collective will be the event for you described as a truly intimate and immersive experience of gastronomic discovery, alongside nationally acclaimed Alla Wolf-Tasker, Matt Moran, Scott Pickett and Zeb Gilbert. This progressive lunch will be held on a farm in the foothills and will include seasonal root vegetables and ingredients from the earth with the emphasis on small scale producers.
